For years, Brandy and Micah Power have dreamed of owning their own café, so when the location of 10 Ocean Street in Hyannis became available early this year, they knew it was the perfect time to make their dream a reality.

The Ocean Street location formerly housed "The Prodigal Son," where the couple met, fell in love and got engaged. As for the name – The Black Spot – Mrs. Power explains that the idea came to her husband from his love for the book, "Treasure Island."

"Our goal for the café is to offer the community a place where they can relax, enjoy a cup of coffee, take advantage of the free Internet and Wi-Fi connections and lounge on the couch," said Mrs. Power. "We also offer a venue for local artists to express their talents by hosting poetry readings, live band performances and a weekly open mic night."

Their menu features sandwiches, pastries, an Espresso Bar, a variety of beers and organic coffees. For a complete menu and more information, visit www.theblackspotcafe.com or Email info@theblackspotcafe.com. The Black Spot Café is off Main Street in Hyannis, right next to the Cape Cod Times.
